Assessment Speech

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Clement @ 9:51 am

On the 28th and 29th of November my classmates presented our speech in front of our whole class.  Here is what I said:

Good Morning Mrs. Pericles and students. My project is about what makes me entertained. My answer is anime.

Anime was first made in the 20th century, the oldest known anime was made in 1907 which lasted 3 seconds. Anime is a type of cartoon produced by people in
Japan made for older children. Anime is shown in numerous countries but since it is not shown in all countries, people record it and upload it onto websites like Youtube, so others can watch it.

Other than anime, there is something called manga which is a comic which shows what happens in some parts of an episode of anime. Each chapter of manga only shows few words and pictures though.

Anime was once drawn by hand at first like manga, but by using computers to animate it, it became animation which is anime. Anime also include Naruto, Bleach, Claymore, One Piece and a whole lot more. Anime has lots of genres, science fiction, horror, fighting, love, comedy, adventure, supernatural, etc. For example, Naruto has bloody violence, bad language, adventure, comedy, drama and supernatural. Bleach has similar genres as Naruto; Bleach has adventure, drama, fantasy, supernatural, bloody violence and bad language.

Osamu Tezuka was a famous manga artist and was once known as the god of manga. Anime and manga make animanga when connected. It is used to describe comics created from animation cels. I recommend anime for children ages 12 and older because most anime has bloody violence and bad language.                                                                     Thank you

My score out of 20 was 19!

                                                              Final debate

After winning last years debating competition, the Belmore South debating team was out of luck in their final debate at Ringrose public school. The topic for the debate was “We learn more from success than failure”, we were the negative so we argued against the topic.

 First Speaker: Yilmaz

  Second Speaker: Martin

Third Speaker: Ramiz

Team Advisor: Natalie

Unfortunately, we lost and we found this very unfair but that was not what the adjudicator thought. So we now finished the year with 2 wins and 5 losses. Maybe we’ll have more luck next year.

Camp

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Clement @ 1:26 pm

On 29th of October, 45 students in stage 3 travelled to Camp Rathane in Port Hacking. I think that the camp we had last year was better than the one we had this year.  Last year we did canoeing, indoor rock climbing, water sliding and swimming, making carts, cooking damper and hiking. This year we did canoeing, swimming, water sliding, indoor rock climbing, archery, riverside riding, camp fire and pool rafting.

This year, I thought canoeing was the best; we made a big raft by holding on all the canoes and the two canoes on the sides. My friend and I were on the left side so we had a chance to paddle. After we reached a particular buoy we split up for races. My shoes and socks were soaked after we finished canoeing, our canoe had the most water and it needed 4-5 people to pour the water out.

Pool Rafting was new to me because I didn’t do it last year. Our group was split into two, and we quickly made our own rafts. When we made our first one, it fell apart when we lifted it up. Then we tried to copy the other groups design, but that fell apart as well. Then we made our own and it worked, and when the opposing team saw that our raft was stable they copied it and we had a race. A person on our team sat on our raft and we dragged it to the other side and back. After 3 races we had 4 minutes of free time. We booked the pool at 5 to 6 o clock, but then another school booked it first.

The activities were definitely better than last year but we only had a few water slide turns. We should’ve had more slides because there were less people this year but we did it on the last day of camp, but last year we did it on the second day.

This year it was really fun but I think last year was more fun.

Mission Maker Story

The police have just called me saying that three of my inventions have been stolen. I rush to the crime scene and find no trace of the burglar’s footprints or fingerprints.  I was a bit surprised to see neither footprints nor fingerprints. I kept looking for clues but in the end I didn’t find any. My friend Patrick came after a few minutes, he asked if I could find any clues. He told me that the burglar stole the phonograph. Now I was starting the get really angry, “THAT WAS MY FAVOURITE INVENTION” I boomed. “This is probably the most important task that you have taken on. “Good luck, Bye” said Patrick.

Book Review: Danny the Champion of the World

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Clement @ 10:53 am

In our class, we have been doing reading circles; our group is reading Danny the Champion of the World. I have only read 12 chapters (102 pages) but I will give you a review of what I have read.

Danny’s mother dies when Danny was 4 months old, leaving Danny to his father. They lived in a caravan and Danny’s father opened up a filling station. Danny started helping his dad in his filling station when he was a few years old. At the age of seven, he learned how to put an engine together and separate the parts. After he was able to do that, he started to go to school.

Late one night, Danny woke up, his father wasn’t in bed. Danny thought that his father was in the filling station to finish something off but he couldn’t hear anything. So he searched around the caravan and checked everywhere in the filling station. After the search, Danny was tired, then he heard footsteps approaching the caravan, and the door swung open. Danny was glad to see his father back at home, and then he asked where his father had been. Danny’s father asked Danny if he could keep it a secret, he nodded.  Danny was led into a dangerous secret, his father was poaching! He was poaching pheasants at Hazell Woods; he had vowed to Danny’s mother that he would never poach again. He told Danny that he became so excited again because Mr Hazell was a snob.

Every evening Danny’s father would poach and sometimes bring back a pheasant or two. One day Danny’s father promised Danny that he would be back at 10:00. Later that night at 11:00, Danny woke up, his father wasn’t back yet, so he looked around the caravan, but his father could not be found. He was starting to get scared, What if father was captured by the guards? What if his father had been shot and is lying around some where. He had to find out, so he drove Baby Austin (their car) to Hazell Woods.

He knew the way to Hazell Woods, when he was near Hazell Woods a police car was behind him. He swerved his car into Hazell Wood and hid behind a tree. The police car didn’t follow, so Danny trotted out of the car and started searching for his father. Dad! He yelled, there was no reply, he kept calling his father, and then there was a low moan, Danny. Danny was running towards the sound, he heard it again, Danny. Then the sound was really close, and then he saw his father at the bottom of a pit. His father told him that they made pits while covering them with dirt.

They needed a ladder or a rope, and then Danny remembered that there was a rope in the car. He ran to get it and tied one side to a tree and Danny’s father tied it around his waste. One of his legs was broken so he couldn’t get up properly. Danny helped pull his father up and at last he was up. Danny helped his dad to his car and drove back to the caravan. He went to the hospital and came back the next day.

This book is really exciting and interesting at the same time because Danny has to save his Dad. I don’t think that I would have been able to save my Dad in the same situation because I really don’t know how to drive a car. Next time he might be more careful if he goes again.

I recommend this book for children ages 10 – 14.

Atheletics Carnival Successful

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Clement @ 7:09 pm

Today the Atheletics Carnival was so successful. Even though it rained a bit, we still continued. I was 2nd in the 100 meters and 200 meters race.  There was no finals for 200 meters but for 100 meters finals I was 5th.

There are four houses ( teams ) , Freeman, Newcombe, Bradman and Fraser. Freeman has won the house cup 5 times in a row, and I’m lucky enough to be in Freeman. There was Long Jump, which I didn’t get a place in.

Then there were ball games, Captain Ball and Tunnel Ball. I was in the Captain Ball team for Freeman, but in the Tunnel Ball team, I swapped with someone else. There was also Tugger War, but that was just for fun and we didn’t have time for it anyway.

I was so excited when it came to my race, I didn’t do the 800 meters because I thought that it would be too much for me. I thought I would be too tired after around 400 meters.

Atheletics Carnival

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Clement @ 5:19 pm

The Atheletics Carnival is on tomorrow!!! I’m so excited, I hope it doesn’t rain,  if it does, it is going to be cancelled. Even if it does rain, I hope it only rains in the afternoon.  This year, I want to get into Zone. ( Getting into zone means that you compete with other schools.

If it does rain, I wonder when it is going to get postponed to.  The news says that it will rain but I hope it is after the carnival.

Maths Presentation

Filed under: Uncategorized —— Clement @ 9:55 am

A few weeks ago, we were doing a maths project. We had to find a subject that we were bad at. I chose probability because I got most wrong in the diagnostic test.  Here is my question.

What is the probability that  students receive academic excellence if there are 900 students and 30 classes?

900 divided by 30 equals 30 because only 1 student per class can receive it.

30/900 as a fraction

Simplify 1/30

That is the final answer to my presentation and question. Even though I didn’t learn much, I still thought I improved in probability.
